Myer liar charged

861513_78366177American businessman, Andrew Flanagan, who was sacked by Myer after he was found to have falsified his credentials, has been charged by Victorian police with fraud.

Flanagan was hired by the department store as group MD of strategy and business development last month but was fired shortly after as it emerged he had lied about his previous employment.

Flanagan claimed to have formerly worked as MD and VP Asia Pacific of Inditex, owner of Zara, however, Inditex said it has never heard of Flanagan, much less employed him.

Flanagan’s appointment was announced in June, along with that of former Apparel Group CEO, Daniel Bracken, as chief merchandise and marketing officer, and Australia Post executive GM of e-commerce and parcel services, Richard Umbers as chief information and supply chain officer.
