Myer Hobart reopens

Myer Hobart storeEight years after it was destroyed by fire, Myer’s Hobart store reopened its doors yesterday.

Face of Myer, Jennifer Hawkins, cut the ribbon to open the new 8,800sqm five-level store on Liverpool Street.

Myer chief merchandise and marketing officer, deputy CEO, Daniel Bracken, said the opening marked an exciting time for the department store and its Hobart customers.

“We’re bringing elements of our New Myer strategy to our Hobart store to bring a whole new shopping experience to the local community,” Bracken said.

“We have tailored the brands, products and experiences to match what we know our local Hobart customers want. For the first time ever, we’re bringing a range of new brands to Hobart customers including Seed, French Connection, Rodd & Gunn, Tiger Mist and the very popular Benefit Brow Bar.”

The new store will feature the ‘Myer Hub’ which provides a range of instore services including personal stylists, click & collect, shop and drop, gift registry, free wi-fi, and a smartphone recharging station.

Prior to the opening, Myer Hobart store manager, Peter Monachetti, said the store team was looking forward to celebrating the new store’s arrival with customers.

“The opening of the new Myer store in Hobart is a highlight of my 36 year career with Myer, including 21 years as Hobart store manager. Approximately 300 Myer staff and brand partners have worked over 8000 man hours, around the clock over the past couple of days to ensure the store is sparkling for our customers on Thursday,” Monachetti said.

“We have around 230 extremely passionate, hard-working and committed store team members who are thrilled to open the doors of the new Myer Hobart for the first time. We have recruited and trained 90 new, local employees, including 48 Christmas casuals, who will work across our five new floors and the magical Christmas Giftorium,” he said.
