Local leaders shine on international stage

trophyCallum MacKay of 7-Eleven and Kathryn Newiss from Philip Morris Australia have been awarded at the international convenience industry awards, which are part of the National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS) Show in the US.

MacKay and Newiss both received the 2014 Global Scholarship Award for the retail category and supplier category respectively.

As the 2014 winners of the Peter Jowett Scholarship Award, administered by the Australasian Association of Convenience Stores (AACS), MacKay and Newiss travelled to the US to compete for global recognition, presenting to an audience of convenience industry professionals from around the world.

“All the finalists, including those from Australia, Canada and New Zealand, gave excellent presentations and the four judges had a tough task separating the finalists,” AACS CEO, Jeff Rogut, said.

“Callum and Kathryn’s success is a fantastic example of the efforts of Australia’s convenience industry in innovating for the future. A big congratulations to them both.”

The AACS will soon call for registrations for the 2015 Peter Jowett Scholarship Award.

“The award has a strong record of unearthing talented industry professionals and continues to prove an effective training and development program contributing to the innovation of our industry for a bright future,” Rogut said.
