Living Edge says it is pioneering a new store design style for the Australian furniture market with the opening of its new flagship in Sydney. Designed by global design firm, Woods Bagot, Living Edge’s retail showroom, residential business, and commercial business are now all housed within a renovated woolshed at The Woolstores, a new retail and design precinct in Alexandria. The 1900sqm site is divided into two levels. Located upstairs is Living Edge’s open plan ‘Living Office’ designed
d by home furnishing brand, Herman Miller, to demonstrate its products in practice, while the first floor is the retail showroom, showcasing brands such as Walter Knoll and BassamFellows.
Skye Healey Ward, marketing manager, Living Edge, says the showroom uses an exhibition style model rather than the traditional layout of a furniture store, with each brand given its own dedicated space within the retail space.
“It’s quite a unique way of displaying furniture and not a way that anyone else in Australia is doing it.”
The showroom also includes an accessories area and soft furnishings area displaying cushions, rugs, and other textiles.
Living Edge has retail showrooms in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.
The next to open under the new design will be a new site in Brisbane later this year, replacing its existing store in Fortitude Valley.
