Largest JD Sports flagship to open in Brisbane

UK-based sportswear retailer JD Sports will open its largest Australian flagship in Brisbane on Thursday, bringing its physical footprint to 12 stores less than two years after Hilton Seskin brought the business Down Under.

The 1350sqm flagship in Brisbane’s CBD will feature the largest range of exclusive footwear, apparel and accessories across all categories of any JD Sports store in the country, including a range of sold-out releases from 2018 at launch.

The store includes elevated launch zones for brand partners to execute interactive consumer experiences and Nike CXS fixtures, which are the first of their kind in Australia.

The launch in Brisbane follows the opening of a new store in Perth in August, which was previously unheld territory for the sportswear business.

“The expansion into Brisbane and Perth showcases JD Sports unprecedented growth in the athleisure space,” JD Sports head of Australia Hilton Seskin said.

“Our stores offer something completely unique to the consumer which is evident by overachieving initial forecasts and retail expansion in a time where other brands are reducing their store presence.”

Seskin said the move to Western Australia was highly anticipated by customers, who, despite having no physical location to visit, were the top source of online traffic for the business’s e-commerce site.
