Kit and Ace to set up shop in Sydney

Kit and AceThe family behind Lululemon is bringing its latest fashion venture, Kit and Ace, to Australia, confirming a second store will open in Sydney after its Melbourne debut next month.

Inside Retail first revealed Kit and Ace was expanding to Australia in April, speaking exclusively to Kit and Ace co-founder, JJ Wilson (son of Lululemon founder, Chip Wilson), in his first Australian media interview.

Last month, Kit and Ace confirmed it was opening in Melbourne late July, at 146 Greville St, Prahran, and has now since revealed a second store will open in August in Sydney’s Surry Hills, at 276 Devonshire St.

Wilson started the company with his stepmother, Shannon Wilson, in Canada last year. Kit and Ace specialises in contemporary and “technical luxury” fashion made from proprietary fabrics such as machine-washable cashmere.

“We’re expanding and testing new markets, and with each one we keep in mind how the location will speak to our brand,”  JJ Wilson, brand director at Kit and Ace, said.

“Kit and Ace is redefining the traditional retail landscape with each new shop. Anyone can display clothes in a shop, but it’s not as common to offer a distinctive experience that captures the entire brand so well,” Wilson said.

The expansion into Australia is in line with Kit and Ace’s rapid growth plans The company launched its first location in Vancouver, B.C. in July 2014 and has since opened seven more doors across North America, including New York and San Francisco.
