Consumer electronics retailer JB Hi-Fi Limited has appointed Cameron Trainor to the newly created position of managing director group merchandise.

Trainor will oversee the strategic direction of the merchandise function across the entire group, comprising the JB Hi-Fi, The Good Guys and JB Hi-Fi Solutions businesses.

Trainor has been with the company since 2009, initially as merchandise director of the JB Hi-Fi business, and, since the Group’s acquisition of The Good Guys in November, as managing director of JB Hi-Fi.

“Cameron has done an outstanding job as managing director of the JB Hi-Fi business over the past 20 months. His appointment to the newly created role of managing director group merchandise is an important evolution in the Group’s approach to product purchasing and supplier relationship,” JB Hi-Fi Group CEO Richard Murray said.

“Cameron has a strong track record and proven skills in this area and we look forward to utilising these across the Group as a whole.”

Murray will act as interim managing director of the JB Hi-Fi business pending the appointment of a replacement.
