Huge growth for Ozsale

In just five years, Australian online retailer Ozsale.com.au has grown to boast a membership of more than 2 million and a staff of 320.

This week it has opened a new 17,000sqm warehouse and distribution centre in the Sydney suburb of Smithfield..

Between the company’s Brookvale headquarters and the new warehouse facility, Ozsale’s Australian operation has grown from 250sqm and four staff when the company launched in 2006 to 23,000sqm and more than 320 employees today.

“The last couple of years have seen strong growth for online retail but the sector has boomed in 2011 – online shopping has become mainstream – embraced by millions more Australians,” said Jamie Jackson, chairman & founder of Ozsale and the APAC Sale Group.

“In the last 12 months, our membership has grown from over 800,000 to nearly 2 million in Australia with a further 1 million members in the APAC region.

“In the last six months alone, we have taken on more than 100 new staff here in Australia to ensure that we are able to service this growing customer base,” added Jackson.

Ozsale was founded in 2006 and has grown into the APAC Sale Group which has taken the shopping club model to key markets in the region. The APAC Sale Group has operations in New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. In each market, the APAC Sale Group offers consumers savings of up to 80 per cent on the RRP of local and international brands while creating complementary marketing channels for suppliers.

“It’s not only consumers that have embraced the online environment, more and more brands are realising the benefits of this distribution channel and the opportunity to sell their product throughout the region,” said Jackson.

“We were the first online shopping club in Australia, and we are now exporting our knowledge and experience around the Asia-Pacific region,” he said.
