GroceryRun introduces m-commerce

Online grocery site, GroceryRun.com.au has launched an app for iPhone and iPad users.

The release of the app coincides with GroceryRun recording its strongest quarter of growth.

The site generates 15,000 orders per week and has seen strong demand from suppliers who have flocked to the site, fuelled in part by the major supermarkets shifting their support away from brands towards promoting their own home brand products.

Kalman Polak, GM of GroceryRun, says the app is the first in its category that is purpose built for shopping on the go.

“The current apps on offer from the major supermarkets are geared towards list making and sending the shopper in store to make a purchase.

The GroceryRun app is purpose built to make shopping on the go quick, easy and secure,” Polak said.

“We have replicated the instore experience to make using the app as intuitive as possible.

Users can browse by special offers, product and category and simply select the item, the quantity, add to cart and check out.

“If you are serious about savings, and who isn’t these days, then the GroceryRun shopping app is a must have in any bargain hunter’s tool kit,” he said.

The app design users product swing tags, similar in look to those that line the supermarket aisles and offers users push notifications for new deals and promotions.

The app has also introduced a ‘scratch and win’ game that reveals coupons that can be redeemed at the next purchase.

Prizes include free shipping, savings off the next order, and two for one deals.

“Bringing fun back to shopping is a major goal for the Catch Group so when it came to designing the GroceryRun app, we wanted to incorporate a device which shoppers associate with in store grocery shopping, but give it an online twist.

“The result is the automated receipt that prints out on the screen with a ‘scratch and win’ functionality – similar to the fuel coupons shoppers get at the check out.

It’s fun plus it also allows us to deliver more value to our members by rewarding regular users,” says Polak.

GroceryRun currently represents more than 1000 brands, the app is available from Apple AppStore in the free lifestyle category. To celebrate its release, GroceryRun is offering $5 off all purchases made using the app.
