Former Asda executive joins Marks & Spencer

UK department store Marks & Spencer has appointed former Asda executive Andrew Mann as the new head of insight and customer loyalty.

Mann previously worked at UK supermarket giants Asda and Sainsbury’s and was also director of Tesco’s Clubcard points scheme in 2004. He also held senior roles at Cadbury-Schweppes, Coca-Cola and British Gas.

“We are delighted Andrew has joined M&S to work with Jeremy Pee in establishing our digital and data function,” Marks & Spencer said in a statement.

According to Drapers, Mann will join Marks & Spencer’s new chief digital and data officer Jeremy Pee. He was appointed last September and began his role on December 3. He is leading the strategy to transform digital capabilities and drive innovation. The retail giant launched a series of partnerships with tech giants including Microsoft, Founders Factory, Decoded and True.

Asda hired Mann as vice president of insight, pricing and digital CRM in 2016. He was assigned to establish the supermarket chain as a data-driven business and utilise customer insight to help with pricing and promotions.
