Flight Centre director steps down

06-FlightCentre_signage_2Flight Centre Travel Group has announced its non-executive director Cassandra Kelly is stepping down from her post.

Kelly moved with her family to the United States last year and has been commuting to Australia regularly for board meetings, the company stated.

The company said Kelly has decided to spend more time with her family and focus on her other business commitments internationally, both within the Pottinger corporate advisory firm that she founded and externally.

Gary Smith, Flight Centre chair, said Kelly has made a strong contribution as a board member.

“We thank her for her efforts and insights during the past two years,” Smith said.

“Her mix of strategy, M&A and analytical skills, coupled with her passion for people development, has been a valuable asset while we have been developing and executing on our plan for the future.”

“We look forward to continuing to work with her in the future, outside of being a director.”

The company stated during Kelly’s time as director, Flight Centre has increased total transaction value by more than $3 billion, expanded into new countries and geographies, and laid the foundations for future growth by investing in new platforms and implementing strategies that will underpin its future success.

Flight Centre stated they will be appointing a new non-executive director soon.
