DJs launches click and collect

Department store David Jones has rolled out the second stage of its omni-channel strategy, click and collect. Resource-12

From this week, customers will be able to collect purchases bought either online or through a mobile device, at customer service centres in all of David Jones’s 36 stores, reports the Australian Financial Review.

Paul Zahra, CEO of David Jones, says the retailer’s online offer will now be on par with that of its international peers after the roll out of the second phase of investment, dubbed ‘Horizon 2′.

“We have achieved this in just under 17 months since announcing our future strategic direction plan in March 2012,” Zahra said.

The department store is also expanding its online product range by introducing “drop ship” capability, where products ordered on David Jones’ website are fulfilled by third party suppliers.

The move will allow the retailer to offer  concession brands such as Country Road online, as well as extend its online product range to include bulky goods without having to handle the goods at its stores or warehouses.
