David Jones will open its second store in New Zealand, opening its first Auckland store as part of the over $720 million redevelopment at Westfield Newmarket.
Westfield parent Scentre Group today announced the redevelopment that incorporates multiple sites over four and half hectares, showcasing a rooftop lifestyle, dining and entertainment precinct, state-of-the-art Event Cinemas complex and over 23 new specialty stores.
“We know New Zealanders are well-travelled and fashion savvy with an appetite for international brands and world-class shopping experiences,” said David Thomas, David Jones CEO.
Thomas said the retailer would look to “exceed expectations” with its second Kiwi store.
“Our store will combine the best of New Zealand and international brands curated specifically for the discerning local market with our range of premium in-store services, delivering an unparalleled experience to the region.”
The department store retailer opened its first international store in Wellington last year at the site of the former Kirkcaldie & Stains mid-sized department store.
Westfield Newmarket is due for completion in the fourth quarter of 2019.
