David Jones has been awarded for its new store design at the Retail Design Institute International Awards gala held recently in Dallas.
The department store was awarded first place for the ‘New or Completely Renovated Full-line Department Store’ category during the 45th Annual International Store Design Competition where over 125 projects from all over the world competed across 21 categories.
The store design for David Jones Eastland in Melbourne was a collaboration between David Jones’ in house store development team and UK based design agency Dalziel & Pow.
Store formats ranging from department, specialty, supermarket and mass merchant to pop-up and common area were included within the award categories with The Institute’s New York Chapter handling the judging of this year’s competition.
Kikki.K was among the retailers honoured during the event winning awards for its two London stores launched last year at Covent Garden, with the ‘Hej London’ Pop-Up store and permanent store located in James Street.
“To open kikki.K boutiques in London has always been on my 101 dreams list, so to see it come to life was so exciting,” said kikki.K founder, Kristina Karlsson. “The response so far has been amazing and we are incredibly grateful. We are so excited and humbled to have had the stores acknowledged on the world stage by the Retail Design Institute.”
