Design on the go

lavazzaCoffee brand, Lavazza, has teamed up with Melbourne-based architect, Herbert & Mason, to create a portable marquee for this year’s Melbourne Cup Carnival.

Purpose built from engineered, lightweight sheet metal, the 150sqm space is able to be dismantled  and reconfigured to create a multitude of forms, such as a Lavazza coffee pop up café or future Melbourne Cup Carnival marquees.

Michelle Valmorbida, creative director, Lavazza, said the design was unlike anything Lavazza has done before.

“We value Herbert & Mason’s innovative thinking in creating something both new and unique for our Lavazza marquee. The design is unlike anything we have done before and it has been so exciting to collaborate with such talented architects and offer our guests the most memorable experience to date”.

The reusable structure is expected to hold up to 170 guests across the four carnival days.
