Co-op snaps up three new stores

The Co-op Bookshop has purchased Edith Cowan University Bookshops.

The Co-op has now secured a long term license to operate all three bookshops under the Co-op brand.

The acquisition takes Co-op to 46 bookshops across Australia and Australia’s largest member-owned retailer.

“We’re absolutely delighted to soon have a presence at Edith Cowan University and we look forward to the development of strong relationships with students and staff both on campus and beyond for many years to come,” said Peter Knock, CEO of The Co-op Bookshop.

In addition to on campus retailing, the Co-op will take an active role in the development and support of local student related sponsorships and scholarships.

“Edith Cowan University bookshops adds to our existing presence in Western Australia, which currently includes the University of Western Australia and the University of Notre Dame Australia,” said Knock.

“This acquisition is by no means the last for the Co-op.”
