Chemmart executive director, Jonathan Layton, is leaving the pharmacy chain after more than 10 years.

In making the announcement, EBOS GM of retail services, Andrew Vidler, said it had been a very hard decision for Layton to make.

“For the past year, he has been commuting to Canada to be with his family and to support his young son’s education. Understandably, he has now decided to move to Canada permanently. While we are very sad to see Jonathan go, we completely understand and support him in making such a courageous personal decision,” Vidler said.

Under Layton’s direction, Chemmart Pharmacy has emerged as a market leader, particularly in the provision of professional health services, increasing sales over the 10 year period from $320m to $900m in 2013/14. During 2014, the company has opened 26 new Chemmart Pharmacies, at a rate of a new store every 13 days.

“Jonathan’s vision and articulation of the Chemmart brand has been a key to our success and will ensure the ongoing success of our brand in the years ahead,” Vidler.

Layton will move to Canada at the end of the year.
