Fire crews have put out a rooftop fire in Brisbane’s city centre.

Images of dark smoke spilling out of the 12 storey Broadway on the Mall building appeared on social media shortly after noon on Wednesday.

Half a dozen crews worked to extinguish the blaze.

Some crews remain on the scene to dampen down the site, which has been closed off for redevelopment since August last year.

A part of Adelaide Street remained closed on Wednesday afternoon.
