The best retail centres in Queensland have been recognised at the annual Queensland Retail Property of the Year awards, held at Brisbane’s City Hall.

The ceremony, attended by over 480 people, celebrated the best in the state’s retail properties and precincts, in addition to recognising the contribution of the industry to the broader community.

This year, a record 71 finalists were recognised across four award categories, including excellence in design, marketing, presentation, and retailing.

The coveted Queensland Retail Property of the Year Award was taken out by South Bank Precinct for the second year in a row, narrowly edging out Indooroopilly Shopping Centre.

Other big winners of the night included Westfield Chermside for marketing, Brisbane Airport International Terminal for best design, and the 27,000sqm large format retail centre, Logan MegaCentre, for best presentation.

Suzette Lamont, national director-asset services, CBRE, explained how the Logan MegaCentre had evolved into a social hub of Brisbane’s south-east community.

“As managers of the asset, CBRE has really taken place-making to the next level, transforming the Logan MegaCentre into a unique retail destination, where customers can eat, meet, play and shop,” Lamont said.
