Metcash has bought automotive parts retailer, Midas Australia, from Lazard Private Equity.

Midas, which first opened in Tasmania in 1976, has 88 stores nationwide.

While the value of the transaction was not disclosed, earlier this year Metcash said it had $85 million to $130m to spend on acquisitions.

Metcash already operates two auto chains, Autobarn and Autopro, which have 109 and 112 outlets respectively.
