The Australian dollar has risen slightly against its US counterpart, buying 67.06 US cents from 67.02 US cents on Wednesday.

One Australian dollar buys 71.88 Japanese yen from 72.24; 61.19 euro cents from 61.32; 54.53 British pence from 54.49; 107.01 NZ cents, from 107.39.

The local currency was at 67.13 US cents yesterday afternoon from 67.02 US cents on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, the local currency dipped to a four-week low against its US counterpart, and was close to a 10 and a half year low.

It was buying 67.02 US cents from 67.54 US cents on Monday
