The Australian dollar has risen Thursday after the central bank had emphasised the need to keep rates steady as a stabilising factor for the economy.

The Australian dollar was at 73.98 US cents, up from 73.50 US cents on Wednesday.

One Australian dollar also buys 83.53 Japanese yen, from 83.11 ; 63.58 euro cents, from 63.20 ; 56.60 British pence, from 56.15 and 108.92 NZ cents, from 108.88.
