Aussie Farmers wins design award

Farmers-Direct-Online grocery retailer, Aussie Farmers Direct, has won a ‘Gold Winner’ award in the Home & Living category for the 2015 AUS [app] Design Awards.

The win comes less than a month after the iPad app first launched on the Apple App Store, beating off strong competition from Channel 7, Domain, Dulux, and Richgro Garden.

“We invested a lot of time and effort into making AisleOne the best and most innovative online shopping experience in the world, and it’s wonderful to receive validation from an international forum of the world’s leading design minds,” said Keith Louie, Aussie Farmers Direct CEO.

“The calibre of contenders for this category was impressive, but AisleOne’s unique drag-and-drop interface, beautiful high res graphics, and delightful user interface overall made it very hard to beat,” he said.

The AUS [app] Design Awards is run by Design100, a global community of 65,000 design experts engaged in celebrating courage, recognising design excellence and growing demand for design.

Louie said since the app launched in mid-September, feedback from customers has been tremendous.

Despite only being available for the iPad thus far, it has seen thousands of downloads from the App Store, and 10 per cent of existing customers have switched to using the app over the website. Louie said this was just the beginning of AisleOne’s journey.

“Getting this sort of recognition early on is exciting, but there’s so much more to come for AisleOne. We’re looking to launch an iPhone version in coming months, and we’ve also got an Android version in the works, which means almost everyone will be able to use our app to order groceries in the near future.

“There’s now no excuse for not having fresh food, fruit and vegetables, straight from the farm gate conveniently delivered straight to your door. As for any upcoming new features, all I can say is ‘watch this space’,” said Louie.
