Australia Post is reportedly seeking government support for its new digital mailbox system that is currently being beta tested with the public following an in-house trial.
Launched quietly late last week, the free document storage service was originally confirmed in March last year. In November, a trial of the service was pulled due to “technical problems”.
Australia Post confirmed earlier this year that it would begin rolling out the new digital system over the coming months.
At the time, Ahmed Fahour, CEO of Australia Post, said the free digital mailboxes would allow Australians to receive mail from governments and businesses and do their banking over a secure website.
“This is effectively you letterbox, your filing cabinet, and your bank account but seamlessly combined in a secure online environment,” Fahour said.
