Amazon opens second Australian fulfilment centre in Sydney

Amazon Sydney Fulfilment CentreE-commerce giant Amazon has opened its second fulfilment centre in Australia in Moorebank, Southwest Sydney.

The location of the new 43,000sqm centre, which is nearly double the size of the Melbourne fulfilment centre that opened in December last year, provides easy access to the M5 motorway, Sydney airport and ports.

Amazon said the new fulfilment centre will provide opportunity for the thousands of small and medium sized Australian businesses that sell through the marketplace and use Fulfilment by Amazon to more easily access customers across the country.

The e-commerce giant said the new centre was built to accommodate its growing product selection and will be an important part of providing faster shipping to customers.

“The new Sydney centre builds on the capabilities of our first fulfilment centre in Dandenong South in Victoria, and expands our ability to service the growing customer demand,” said Robert Bruce, Amazon director of Operations.

Sellers using FBA will automatically have their products eligible for Prime, Amazon’s newly launched subscription service that provides customers with benefits such as free two-business-day delivery, entertainment, and access to members-only deals events, such as Prime Day.
