ACRS kicks off 2016 with breakfast seminar

shopping centreThe Australian Consumer, Retail, and Services (ACRS) research unit at Monash University is holding its first event for 2016 – a breakfast seminar reviewing the emergence of key trends in retail.

At the ACRS trends breakfast seminar, ACRS managing director, Sean Sands, will be joined by Professor Alexis Mavrommatis (of EADA Business School in Barcelona) to review the year that was and highlight how leading brands around the world are embracing change in 2016.

Sands has conducted research and delivered seminars globally on retail innovation, design thinking and customer experience strategies to inspire and assist brand growth.

Professor Mavrommatis is an executive graduate from the University of Cambridge and Harvard Business School, with a PhD in retail from the University of Stirling. He has also worked for Carrefour and as a senior consultant for JDV The Retail Company, developing innovative retail store concepts for Carrefour, P&G, Coca-Cola, MasterFoods and Eroski.

Launching the event, ACRS noted that 2015 witnessed many changes within the retail and services industries, including the rise of curation and storytelling; the advent of virtual shopping technology; and an increase in the number of brands providing personalised products, marketing communications and promotions.

The first ACRS seminar of the year will showcase these trends and more, highlighting the intersections between consumer culture, retail and services. It will be held on March 8 at Harbour 220 in Sydney, and on March 9 at Zinc in Melbourne.

The cost is $149 per person, $90 for Monash Alumni, and $1190 for a corporate table (seating 10).
