Back to reality: Coles’ 6 per cent sales drop signals return to normalcy

A 6.1 per cent drop in comparable supermarket sales at Coles is a clear sign of normalising consumer behaviour in the wake of Covid-19 lockdowns.  While a significant drop from Coles’ record 13.1 per cent sales growth at the peak of panic buying in Q3 FY20, the $7.7 billion figure is still 6.8 per cent higher than the same period in 2019.
