Australia Post prepares for Click Frenzy rush

Australia Post is gearing up for a particularly busy week, as Click Frenzy’s ‘The Main Event’ kicks off on Tuesday evening, signaling the first major holiday-season shopping event for FY22.

And, after a two-year period which has seen online shopping hit new levels of relevance and usefulness to the average Australian, the delivery firm is expecting the 53-hour shopping event to lead to one of its biggest parcel weeks of the year.

“Click Frenzy is the start of the pre-Christmas sale period, and we’ve been working hard to ready our network,” said Australia Post executive general manager of business, government and international Gary Starr.

“We’ve got over 45 new and repurposed operational and retail sites up and running, additional planes in the air, over 4,000 new team members coming on board, and we’re delivering on weekends when and where we need to – all to ensure we can get parcels to our customers as quickly as possible.”

According to Starr, over half of Australian households have been “consistently” shopping online in recent months, with national online purchasing growth hitting around 18 per cent in the year to October 31.

“From our latest customer research, we know this growth will continue with over two-in-five shoppers intending to buy their Christmas presents online this month, making November the most popular month for online Christmas shopping,” Starr said.

The delivery firm recently released a set of deadlines: dates which customers should purchase their holiday gifts before to avoid having parcels not arrive on time.

Parcels will need to be sent no later than Monday 13 December in order to make it to the recipient on time, while sending via Express Post will push the deadline out to December 20.
