Woolworths has appointed new leaders for its retail business as part of the supermarket chain’s organisational changes.
The company has named Annette Karantoni as MD of Woolworths Retail, reporting to the group’s CEO Amanda Bardwell.
Prior to the new role, Karantoni held several leadership positions at Woolworths including as chief supply chain officer of the group and as MD of Primary Connect.
Meanwhile, Sally Copland will return to New Zealand as MD of Woolworths New Zealand.
Copland was previously MD of EComx at Woolworths Group and MD of EComx at WooliesX.
The new appointments come as Metro, Greenstock and Woolworths Food Company Retail now become part of Woolworths Retail.
“Our Woolworths Retail business is the cornerstone of our group and critical to our success,” said Bardwell.
“Getting it right for our customers starts with our team and we are taking the opportunity to simplify the way we work to create the biggest impact for our customers.”
Director of stores Jeanette Fenske and chief commercial officer Paul Harker, who have been leading the company on an interim basis, will continue in their existing roles as part of Woolworths Retail’s team.
Earlier this year, Woolworths said it filed with New Zealand’s Commerce Commission, for clearance to acquire Beak & Johnston.
