Bluetti power station line signals time to switch to solar

(Source: Supplied.)

With the first announcement of Bluetti’s AC300 portable heavy-duty solar generator on the US market in September last year, the time has finally come to ditch the noisy old gas/propane generators that many businesses have relied on for decades and join the solar age. With its accompanying B300 3072Wh LFP battery pack, the generator officially hits stores in Australia this week on May 25.

Recent advances in solar technologies have made quieter and more efficient power station solutions possible at last, following years of anticipation. Solar has been the touchstone for expected progress in power packs for decades, but it hasn’t been until recently that the technology has been able to offer a robust and dependable alternative to consumers.

As a solar power station that can max out at 3 kW/12.3 kWh, the emergence of the AC300 has made the technological projections for solar a reality. The unit represents strong innovations in solar power that have now made the switch from gas to solar power generators not only possible, but a top priority.

According to Bluetti, rising petrol prices and the noisy operation of gas generators – along with the harmful emissions they produce – are all signals that this is the right moment to change over to solar generators. The noise in excess of 70 dB from a machine that spews toxic carbon monoxide not only has a higher carbon footprint than solar generators but also requires frequent maintenance and carries a monthly fuel cost. By comparison, Bluetti’s AC300 solar power generator operates at a 35 dB hush while putting out free, clean, endless renewable power sourced from the sun. The units are extremely low maintenance and keep humming even when it’s cloudy – with 24/7 seamless UPS whenever power outages occur.

Perhaps the best reward for a business that switches to a solar power generator is the boost to the firm’s sustainability goals. Solar generators use free energy from the sun instead of burning costly fossil fuels. Once the unit is purchased, business owners can constantly harness this energy for the duration of the solar panels’ lifespan, which can extend from 25 to 30 years. Unlike most conventional fuel or gas generators, solar generators have no moving parts and do not use liquid fuel, which significantly reduces the maintenance fee.

Choosing a green solution brings multiple benefits to the environment and reduces health risks to staff, whose exposure to gas generator emissions can increase the danger of respiratory disease, potentially including susceptibility to the various strains of Covid-19.

The AC300 itself weighs in at a light 20 Kg, a function of solar generators generally being much more lightweight than gas-powered equivalents of the same power density. The unit must be paired with a B300 battery pack (it has no built-in battery) which weighs less than 33.6 Kg – giving the combined units improved portability and convenience to business owners in need of the solution.

According to the Bluetti website, the AC300+B300 combo is 100 per cent modular and expandable to a total capacity of 12,288 Wh with four B300 battery modules attached. The B300’s LFP cells have 3500+ life cycles to 80 per cent of their original capacity – which means that putting the device through one cycle a day will yield 10 years of service life. Compared with lead-acid batteries or other lithium batteries, LFP are ultra-safe, lightweight, and have a longer life span with improved charge and discharge efficiency. A full 2400 W MPPT solar charge is achievable in two hours – and when necessary, other charging methods are also possible.

The AC300 also supports 5400W AC and solar dual charging. It can be controlled easily via Bluetooth and WiFi via the Bluetti mobile app.

With the technological advances that have made Bluetti’s solar products possible, there’s no better time to go solar and ditch those noisy gas/propane generators.
