Peloton sheds CEO, 2800 workers
Fitness tech company Peloton has axed around 2800 people, including CEO John Foley, after its post-pandemic sales plummeted.
Foley has been replaced by former Spotify and Netflix chief financial officer Barry McCarthy.
“Our objective is clear: we are taking steps to best position Peloton for sustainable growth, while also establishing a clear path to consistent profitability,” Foley wrote in a letter to shareholders, The Guardian reported.
“Decisions like these were not taken lightly, and we will work hard to assist impacted teammates with their transitions.”
Terminated staff were given a 12-month free membership to the Peloton fitness program, along with a “meaningful cash severance allotment”.
PVH names permanent CFO
Luxury brand owner PVH has hired Zac Coughlin as its new permanent chief financial officer, after the exit of Michael Shaffer last September.
Coughlin previously operated at DFS Group, a luxury travel retailer under LVMH Group, and in Nike’s Converse business, Retail Dive reported.
The hire comes amid PVH’s effort to refocus on its marquee brands – Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger – having sold off its Heritage Brands business to Authentic Brands Group last year.
