Best & Less delivers record sales and online growth

Apparel retailer Best & Less has delivered online sales growth of 80 per cent during the year to November, and like-for-like growth of 13.5 per cent.

During the 12 month period Best & Less earned $629 million in revenue across its 246 stores and website, while online sales hit $57 million, or 9.1 of total sales.

Group CEO Rodney Orrock said the performance seen during the last year is a testament to the business’ transformation efforts over the last five years, though noted the impact Covid-19 has had on boosting its business.

“While the business was experiencing strong sales before the pandemic, it has provided a strong tailwind as customers increasingly focused on value,” Orrock said.

“The year 2020 gave retailers a unique opportunity to connect better with their customers in a number of ways. For our business, this included an upgraded loyalty program, creating a stronger customer care function and putting more investment into our digital presence and omnichannel strategy.”

And according to Orrock the business will continue to be able to reap the tailwind effect of customers’ move toward value-based purchasing in the year ahead, as the ongoing societal and financial impact of the Covid-19 crisis becomes clearer.
